Leukoplakia

Does anyone have any experience of this? DH has been told he has this by the dentist so he's back for a check up / scraping shortly.

It seems it can be benign, but is heavily linked mouth cancer.

DH is an absolute panicker and likely to spiral hard, so I'm trying very hard to be blasé about this right now... But need to know reality rather than Google.

Thanks.

Bumping because DH has now been referred to the hospital for further investigations.

Anyone got any experience of this?

How did it go? I've found had a white patch at the back of mouth for about 10 months now and have only really looked in to it and am now pooping myself.
Gonna book a Dr appointment tomorrow. I actually have a picture of it from 10 months again to now and it's grown in size too 😞

Leukoplakia simply means white patch in Latin. Very few are sinister, but some have the potential to turn sinister. Unless you are a smoker and drinker unlikely to be anything to worry about. Of course go to the doctor though and have it checked +/- biopsy

Hi @Emhead93 , the specialist dentist at the hospital thinks it's actually lichen planus, but has taken a biopsy and we await the results. It seems to have similar warnings around an increased risk of oral cancers, but not exponentially so.

Hope you're OK, I know DH had a big flap when it was first spotted, but he's much more relaxed now.

Interestingly, they were worried about him being an ex smoker but no interest in him being a current vaper. I'm guessing they lack data around vaping and these things..

@SoddingWeddings thanks for replying.
I'll try and get an appointment with the doctors soon and if they don't seem bothered maybe try the dentist just to be sure.
Yeah Google has panicked me a bit and also annoyed I didn't think much of it sooner but I don't really look on my mouth much so didn't realise it hadn't ever gone away and got bigger :/
Fingers crossed it nothings serious!
Hope you're husbands result are all clear l!

Don't go to the GP, oral health is nothing to do with them - a dentist is the right person to see. They'll only bounce you there anyway.
