Suspected sarcoma

I found a hard lump on my lower shin bone around 7 weeks ago it was small and painless at first. It started to grow now being 3cm, had some swelling and felt tender so I went to my gp. I've since had an x ray, bloods and an ultrasound yesterday. My doctor rang me this morning and said he's had to refer me to the sarcoma specialist and I'll need to go for an MRI so they can get a diagnosis of what it is. I've been out of my mind with worry and anxiety. I'm 26 and have 2 girls 5 and 2. I'm just thinking the worst and would like some reassurance or if anyone has been through something similar. Thank-you

I was recently diagnosed with a rare sarcoma, and had surgery last week. Surgery hasn't been easy. You have to focus on getting to see the best consultants available. Mine was misdiagnosed upon removal in 2019, and then misdiagnosed when it grew back and got removed again in 2023. It went off to molecular genetics for testing and then they found the cause. They also found tumours in my gallbladder and a recurrence in my mouth recently. Good luck.

I’m sorry no one replied. How has it been going ?

Hi OP
I hope you are okay?
I had a sarcoma in my uterus wall ( mistaken for a fibroid).

I've had a total hysterectomy now.

ShellBell33 · 31/12/2023 22:46

Still waiting for biopsy results. Sorry to hear that you have had to have a hysterectomy How are you now

Enigma52 · 01/01/2024 14:40

@scoobydoo1971 a sarcoma in a your mouth? That's not good. Are you okay now?

Paigey97 · 01/01/2024 15:10

I'm all over the place to be honest. I had my MRI on the 3rd December and have my appointment with the consultant at the cancer clinic tomorrow. So sorry to hear you went through that its awful, are you ok now?

@Paigey97 hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. These sarcomas are a real horrid thing. Mine was huge in the wall of my womb. The hysterectomy got shot of it and no further treatment required for that ( thankfully).

Keep us updated x

@Paigey97 how have you gone on

Paigey97 · 02/01/2024 20:09

I had my appointment today. The consultant said that it isn't cancer or a tumor that they can see from all the scans thankfully but they don't know exactly what it is maybe some blood vessels that have got tangled and caused swelling and irritation. I have been given an open appointment letter so if anything changes in the next 12 months I can give them a call and go back in to be checked again.

Bestyearever2024 · 02/01/2024 20:56

How are you doing @scoobydoo1971 ?

Bestyearever2024 · 02/01/2024 20:58

How are you feeling after the hysterectomy @Enigma52 ?

Bestyearever2024 · 02/01/2024 20:59

Sorry, I posted too soon. Why did the docs think it was a fibroid?

scoobydoo1971 · 03/01/2024 22:47

I am ok, thanks. I just had another surgery today as I have another suspicious lesion in my mouth. I have a bit of a wait for the results now and a hole in my mouth. My hand is healing but I have nerve and grip damage, which is a bit frustrating. Fair play to all the health professionals who have managed my care lately. They have been brilliant.

scoobydoo1971 · 03/01/2024 22:48

I had surgery today. There was proven sarcoma in my hand, which has had a prior operation. I am waiting for the results now for my mouth, and glad the operation is all over!! Thanks
