Is it me or is this a bit mad?

$560 for a week to sleep in a tent that someone has made themselves.

yurts are fucking awesome though!

I've never stayed in one. Arthog is fantastic though, the views are amazing. We've just got back from near there. DH has spotted a farm for sale for £500k and is planning on buying it (in his dreams).

It just seemed a bit expensive though. You can stay in a 3 bed cottage near the sea for narly £150 a week less.

You pay for the whole experience though, and the yurts I've stayed in has been really luxurious, more so than your average cottage. Agree with you that it's a lot of money, but if you were going to spend that much on accommodation anyway, I don't think it's too bad.

Very romantic too (less applicable now that I've got a toddler!), wish I knew about them a couple of years ago.

.... and £1 per shower on top? They are taking the mick with that. Total madness!!

Last year my sil and bil paid something in the region of £600 to come and camp in a tipi on the same site as us to see if camping was for them without the hassle of buying a tent.

I did point out it would be better to buy a tent and then sell it on e-bay if they didn't like it.

This year they have spent £600 on a tent

Hadn't even realised you had to pay a £1 for a shower. God, they really are taking the piss.

As for romantic breaks, its not really my priority with 2 DC in tow and when I'm booking a holiday in Wales I'm always conscious that it may rain all week. A week of rain in a Yurt doesn't sound like my idea of fun.

Smell like wet sheep? They just sound more appealling by the minute.
