hi i am new to this site and was wondering if anybody camps on their own with children?? I am a camper with a Hi Gear Kalahari 10 tent. Me & my son (10) usually put this tent up no problem with the yougest (4 & 2) playing in the car!! I was just wondering if anybody has any recommendations for sites to visit that i wouldn't feel too isolated or intimidated on. I am in Yorkshire.

I am a singleparent and I have been on a lovely campsite in Cheddleton Leek. It is called Glencote caravan park. They have quite a few tents aswell as tourers. It has a fishing pondand is very safe. It is really safe and clean. You can walk to the pub and get a lovely meal or walk along the canal which about 5 minutes walk away. It has an old steam train that goes past the site and the children can go on it anytime (obviously at a cost) but they have special train rides at halloween, easter, VE day and loads of other dates too. You are near to festival water park too and Alton towers

I'm not a single parent but DH doesn't "do" camping and he doesn't have school hols like I do, so it's always just me and the kids! What area of the country do you want to visit? I use camping and caravanning club sites all over the place, they always feel safe and the facilities are fantastic. I've mostly done Cheshire, Staffs and Yorkshire, all lovely.

Hi Leanne,

I'm planning a camping trip in Yorkshire alone with my children this summer and I haven't quite figured out just where yet BUT depending on whereabouts in Yorkshire you are there are some lovely sites in the peaks and also there is this place called the forbidden corner in North Yorkshire that I want to take the kids to.

I'm trying to find a good site between there and Sheffield so I'll let you know if I find owt!

Slur · 05/07/2010 01:19

Oh and hello gigglygirl me lovely! mwah mwah

gigglewitch · 05/07/2010 01:22

slur, that forbidden corner looks fantastic!! Now I'm serious, inbox?!!

Slur · 05/07/2010 01:27

Yes.

Okay.

You know what I am actually DONE with being an oh so private incognito sunglasses donning mystery girl.

Yep yep, I'm up for that. A MN totally camp experience (possibly minus the pink and the foppishness and oooh where-me-washboard prancing)

I have booked tickets for Indietracks on the 24th July and am thinking of camping that night nearish that forbidden corner and then meh dunno maybe camping just that night or maybe two nights if it's dead good and other stuff to do nearby.

Indietracks is nice for children by the way because the whole trains thang....

So, yes, those are my plans and if anyone fancies grouply organising a campsite north yorkshire ish then I Am In.

Slur · 05/07/2010 01:31

ack lady I probably gave you that mn incog address innit?

Is it the one with Slur in the address line?

If so bleurgh, I never check that anymore. Am going to FB you my more used yahoo address.

But but but, I am serious too that I am happy for lots for more people too. Leanne or any other folk who feel inspired for a northern camp up. We have the beginnings of a plan...

Slur · 05/07/2010 01:34

Slur · 05/07/2010 02:07

If Leanne checks this in morning can I once again say "hi there" and "come along" and really not hijacking your thread intentionally (well we are clearly but not with maliciousness)...

Have posted in meet-ups but I will post back here if any good camping sites come up

gigglewitch · 05/07/2010 22:34
