i did like the 4.2, in fact had gone there for the 4.1, but the way i figured it i was only paying about 20quid more for the same space but with standing room. such a good offer, that thirty per cent off... am i mad for wanting to buy a third room?

OP posts:
Aitch · 26/06/2010 12:01

all the pop ups are so dinky, weblette...

weblette · 26/06/2010 12:07

It's one those stores though where you end up coming out having spent soooooooo much more than you intended

We usually got to the one outside Boulogne but I discovered the Lakeside one for that particular shopping frenzy

arcticwind · 26/06/2010 14:04

Aitch I have 2 of those (also green) as bedrooms plus the Base XL for my living space

They are uttlery fab - except the pegging out is such a chore when they only take 5 secs to pop up

Seriously hankering after a third bedroom...

Lucycat · 26/06/2010 16:10

supersalstrawberry ahem perhaps you can get them online?

fatzak · 26/06/2010 17:11

Ah Dobby, that's what DH is obsessed with. He spends every camping trip inventing an inflatable tent!!

poppyboo · 26/06/2010 18:12

Hi, I am new to these tents so don't know much about them. We're family of four were thinking about Bear Lake 6 but the thought of how long it takes to pitch is putting us off and would like to think about something pretty instant instead b/c we would like to move around a bit while camping.
So here is the question. Could I attatch tente.quechua.com/en/tent/r-7,a-3,base-seconds-4-2.html to this tente.quechua.com/en/tent/r-9,a-63,sejour-base-seconds-xl.html b/c we would like lots of living space? If so do they zip together and are they water proof when zipped? Also, would you be still charged for one tent on a camp site?

weblette · 26/06/2010 18:13

I'm sleeping out in the garden with ds1 and ds2 tonight in our little one

poppyboo · 26/06/2010 20:31

Aitch do you know if you can get them for £55 on line at the moment or is it just instore?

poppyboo · 27/06/2010 12:50

articwind now I am seriously thinking about getting the tente.quechua.com/en/tent/r-9,a-63,sejour-base-seconds-xl.html like you have with one tente.quechua.com/en/tent/r-9,a-48,sejour-base-seconds-full.html

Do yout think the Base Seconds full, with the bedroom inner added, would sleep two adults and two little children?

Also is the base second XL absolutely huge? (we like big for living area but i was trying to visulise just how massive

with this initial set up we would think about getting another base seconds full with bedroom inner next year when we have more money! It would be nice to have two bedrooms!

poppyboo · 27/06/2010 12:51

articwind how long does it take you to peg out approximately?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 27/06/2010 13:01

WOW! They look amaaaaaaazing!

Our tent is a whopper and relly not great for weekends. I think I might have just found a solution!!

Geordieminx - where did you get that bed - it looks ideal for ds2 who is a real wriggler!

poppyboo · 27/06/2010 13:27

articwind (I'm not stalking you, honestly! LOL)

What do you actually have attatched to your base seconds XL? Is it a base seconds full or one of their 2 seconds tents?

I find all these names confusing!

I'm still not actually sure what the OP actually bought...was it the Base seconds full?

ReformedCharacter · 27/06/2010 14:54

Poppyboo, I have the same questions as you.

I want to buy the big XL base to use as a living area and then attach 3 small bases (2 as bedrooms and 1 as a storage area). Can I do that?

Also can't work out if the tents zip securely together or just sort of drape over one another

Aitch · 27/06/2010 16:27

just back home after first trip du saison... bliss. tents great, will report once have unpacked and put umpteen washes on. dh watching football.

OP posts:
geordieminx · 27/06/2010 16:51

Oooo where did you go?

Aitch · 27/06/2010 17:01

wee place near dollar, riverside. bit noisy beside the road but fine. heads of ayr was booked, and witches craig had no mobile coverage, which we needed as pal was technically on call. wouldn't hasten to recommend it but it was fine for us.

OP posts:
Aitch · 27/06/2010 17:02

rained just as we were leaving, so will have to poing tent up tonight in front room, lol.

OP posts:
poppyboo · 27/06/2010 17:42

Aitch what tents do you exactly have...? I hope you come back tonight and tell us...but i understand you must have a mountain of washing...can't wait to hear how you got on with new tents...any great things or not so great things!

Aitch · 27/06/2010 17:51

two of the base seconds standard, with one ground sheet (will get another) and one bedroom inner. total cost once i get other groundsheet, £160. enough room in bedroom for one double, one single airbed and a gap... my legs slept mostly in gap thanks to dd2 starfishing throughout, so will think about some self-inflating mattresses for next time.

loved them, loved them, loved them. in fact will go with dds and just one tent and bedroom next time i think, for super-nifty camping.

might get another base as a store for longer journeys, as can get another bedroom for dds when they get bigger. LOVING the modularity.

OP posts:
Aitch · 27/06/2010 17:54

oh and i put up both on my own in about half an hour all told, guyed out and everything. (dh arrived later). and it was the first time in cold blood and with two littlies squabbling over toy buggy the entire time. ten mins to take down first tent in leisurely fashion, three mins to take down other when rain started. again no help from bloomin' dh as he has a tendency to glaze over when faced with nylon of any description.

OP posts:
poppyboo · 27/06/2010 18:04

Thanks Aitch, so it looks like i will have to think about my options (won't be able to fit four of us into one Base Second) i would need two as bedrooms.
Do you know the difference between a Base Second and a Base Seconds Full?

Ummmm, i'm really not sure what to go for a Quechua Base Seconds 4.2 with extra Base Second attatched to it for more room or whether to go modula like you have.

Oh yes, how do they fit together? Are they zipped?

Thank you for your help!

MollieO · 27/06/2010 18:17

They look fab. I wish pop up tents folded down to a non-circle shape. I bought an Outwell one in the end of season sale last year and it is too big to get into my car .

IMoveTheStars · 27/06/2010 18:25

waaaaaaaaaaaaaant

Slubberdegullion · 27/06/2010 18:34

I do not think I wang on do I ?

Nice looking pop ups you have there aitch. I have two too, but outwell ones as I don't live near a Decathalon.

I only fold them down when someone is walking past and I do it all nonchalant like whilst talking to the dc about hawks or something. I like to think folk see my carefree foldings and are deeply impressed. I know I impress myself.
