Heating a tent?

Just a quick question, we are due to go camping in a couple of weeks and im hoping that it stays really warm like it is at the moment. The August before last we went for just one night and it was freezing! Literally needed scarves, hats and mittens it was so cold, i thought i might try and cirumvent that this time by taking some sort of heating device to warm up the tent at bedtime, i have looked on ebay and there seems to be two sorts, a gas one and a fan heater (the fan heater has a safety cutout) which do you think would be best (if any?)

Neither tbh. There's little point heating a tent because its so poorly insulated.

Take hot water bottles - far more effective and efficient.

Gahh I had a feeling you would say that - thanks anyway - will take hot water bottles then

We used a gas heater once but it was a really huge old one that took a full sized canister. Took up loads of room in our trailer and was heavy.
Tent was nice and warm though!
If you got a gas one at least you can still use it if you dont have electric hook up.

Heat the tent?!

It's made of tin fabric - you will be trying to heat the world!

What's wrong with wearing hats and gloves in August anyway

You always need more warm clothes and blankets for the evenings and nights than you think you will - just go prepared would be my advice (and save yourself some money!)

Top tip! When we went camping we didn't take sleeping bags (because we didn't have any) we took all our duvets instead and just made one big bed that all five of us got into. Make sure you're in the middle, nice toasty warm.

Actually now i think about it, it was the caravan awning we heated not our tent.

Get a caravan. They have heating!

We have a little electric fan heater that we use to heat the tent, ussually just before bedtime and sometimes first thing in the morning. Obviously you need EHU for this. We really only need it early and late season.

went camping in wales last year. in may. only took the smal "festival size" tent and our duvets. extra jumper on top, thick woolen socks on the feet and dh ds and me snuggeld up. perfectly toasty even with 8 degrees out there...

DH's cousin has a fan heater in her tent and it is lovely and warm. They leave it running all night though.
