Hi guys,

We're heading off for our 1st camping hol next week and still not booked anything yet - eek!

We're ferrying to Amsterdam and are going to head to Lorraine for a while. Wondered if anyone can recommend a site in Belgium or even south Netherlands. Completely bamboozled by these massive camping guides with a squillion sites in it.

Many thanks

Scatt

I had that problem too! Couldn't even begin to narrow the Belgian sites down. Did eventually though but realised thay were actually quite expensive as many had booking fees and tourist tax on top of advertised prices.
We ended upp booking Bruges for 3 nights (as getting ferry to Zebrugge) then going just past the belgian Ardennes into Luxembourg, as this seemed to be in the middle of everywhere we fancied!

Website in dutch but if you email them they get back to you in word perfect english. Fab facilities and an amazing place to go with kids of all ages.

Praminthehall, can you tell me more about your amazing Dutch place?

Checked out the website but didn't really get past first base given that my Dutch extends as far as 'Dank u wel' and 'Alstublieft'.

Tell me more about it so I know what to ask them in my email!!

We went there last summer. Was amazing, would go again. My Dutch is non existent! We took a tent, but there are lots of campers and caravans there. Nearly wholly Dutch campers, although we did encounter an anglo-dutch family.

Huge site in pine wood, surrounded by green fields if you prefer sun to shade - you can specify. Top notch facilities, the like of which i have never enocuntered anywhere else - baths! shower cubicles with showers for adults and special parrot-head child-height showers! And sparkling clean. Outdoor & indoor pools, plus indoor water playground - acn't really explain this as no equivalent I;ve encountered and no pics on site. Amazing play facilities. Lots laid on in the way of entertainment if you want to do that - we opted out of a lot but my kids enjoyed the foam party (!!) and a hilarious & bizarre match which was the local firefighters vs. camp staff, blasting each other with hoses.

You can hire bikes there too. We spent a lot of time at the site but also explored the local area and visited family just over the border in Belgium. Highly recommend. Think it won an award for the best campsite for families with kids under 12 recently. Justified IMO. Very well thought through and not at all pretentious.

Wow wish i had seen this site before booking ours! Not sure whether its our version of internet explorer, or the computer, but if i right click on the text on the website, I can choose the option to translate into english. Its not word perfect but gives you an idea of waht it is saying! Alternatively you can get online translation sites to help you?
