Right. I need inspiration.

In a few weeks I'm going on a weekend camp and have to decorate my tent.

I am only allowed to use things bought from pound shops, things I already have, or things that are free.

So far I have glow sticks and four windmills (the toy sort). And four colour changing, battery operated lamps.

And now I'm stuck. What else can I use?

Gah. It was my stupid idea in the first place and I'm going to LOSE because someone else's DH is an electrician who can change fairy lights from plug to battery (or something).

I don't want to lose.

Help me, lovely camper types, PLEASE!!!!

Old cds hanging glittery mobile like from the flag pole?? Looks v effective have seen it done on Boats sounds yuck but effective honest?? Surely adapting stuff using electric tools is against the rules????

Shodan · 17/06/2010 14:44

You'd think, omydarlin, wouldn't you? but no.

Liking the cd thing- I've got laods of unused/never will be used discs somewhere in the garage.

Honestly. All because of one string of fairy lights last year (oh and some bunting, which I've still got.....)

Loads, even. Dunno what laods are.

Hmm
there are a few sets of battery fairy lights under £1 on ebay (postage isn;t part surely - not is electric tools are not anyway!)

And you know.... one length of £1 lilghts + another several = quite a lot.....

Though if you're feeling really competitive buy some normal lights and send them ehre, will make DH convert for you

Spray some bits of twig etc silver as well, or random bright colourrs and shove in a welly for an arrangement, put coloured hair bobbles on your guy ropes; scarves fluttering in the wind from a pirece of draped ribbon.....

RiverOfSleep · 17/06/2010 14:58

I was going to say bunting, bunting and more bunting. What colour/shape/size is your tent? Are you decorating the inside or the outside?

RiverOfSleep · 17/06/2010 14:59

Get some vuvuvezulas or whatever they're called and win on annoyance factor?

Shodan · 17/06/2010 15:56

River- I don't want to risk upsetting the senseis (it's a karate camp) with vuvuzelas. Erm... the tent is green (vague) and we only have to do the outside. And maybe the gazebo thingy that I out in front. And perhaps a bit of the ground.....

Hadn't thought of ebay, SanctiMoanyArse. Fabbo idea. I don't think there's any need to mention postage, is there??

ALthough would've been MUCH better to have got organised before now- I've got dozens of spare strings of fairy lights in my Xmas selection (compulsive fairy light buyer). I'm sure your DH would've loved being nominated for converting them

Thanks so much, everyone, for your suggestions. I must go a-hunting through the garage. I usually have crafty stuff lurking. Don't know why I didn't think of it myself....

babber · 17/06/2010 21:39

plastic flowers...

or i suppose you could even use real ones but i quite like the kitch-ness of plastic ones...

Shodan · 17/06/2010 22:47

Kitch is definitely good, I reckon.

Print some Karate pictures off the internet and make into paper bunting/flags. (And hope it doesn't rain)

Or make a stencil and spray lifesize karate-ers onto each side of your tent (assuming that you REALLY want to win and that you like karate so much you don't mind having it on your tent).

Print off some pictures of flower filled window boxes, laminate and fix underneath the windows of your tent. I bet no one else will have window boxes!

Lots of 'karate belts' dangling from everywhere.

Shodan · 18/06/2010 12:56

River I'm very glad you're not part of this comp- you'd win for sure!

Many thanks for all the ideas.

I'm going to search for karate pics now.
