Come give me praise. I shut the roof box on the first attempt.

Just like that

You should see how beautifully my car is packed. Everything is layered and positioned for order of pitching and unpacking requirements.

Now admittedly I have not put the clothes bags in, or the cool box, or the bag of toys, or the dds and dh come to thing of it but

pah

it'll all go in no worries.

AND

I can see out of the boot window whilst sitting in the drivers seat.

I should get an award for that car pack.

I have sat and watched a family arrive on site who had not followed that fundamental rule of packing. There was quite a lot of crossness and finger pointing.

Ah, the tent has a Special Place in the roofbox, slubber. Although that is a good tip...

Slubberdegullion · 28/05/2010 18:26

phew

had visions of you staggering around in the dusk, swigging from your bottle and shoving bin bags of god knows what all over the top of your tent in the bottom of the boot.

Me too Deepdarkwood, DH just phoned to say he will be home in an hour or so, so will also be packing with wine - note to self don't forget the tent. Also if the roofbox does shut first time, I must have forgotten something important!

Lucy we are off to Corfe Castle area, not sure if that's east or west - hmm another not to self, don't forget the map!! Where are you off to .

Tent goes in the boot, last thing packed.

We are the other side of Dorset - Lyme regis area.

Happy camping folks - see you all in a week

Hmmmm packing the car - always a great bonding activity for husband and wife. Dh and I usually come v close to divorce when packing for our annual two weeks in Scotland - and that's going self catering , not camping.
We have the clothes, the walking boots, the back pack for dd3, the pushchair for dd3, the travel cot for dd3, the drawing pencils, the bird books, the maps ( you need 3 OS maps to cover Mull!), the books for holiday reading, the food, the emergency sickness kit, the waterproofs, the warm coats...it just goes on and on and I pack like a jigsaw fitting stuff in to gaps and dh likes to pack with everything with straight, flat edges. Something is usually thrown.....it really sets us up for a fortnight away

lol Northern Lurker, we are the same. And oooh you should see the sparks fly when I adjust things to give the poor dog more room !! Well DH arrived home tonight at 9pm - I ask you. So packing will commence tomorrow morning, which makes for a sleepless night. We won't reach Dorset before midday I can feel it, and who knows where the first available pitch will be found. Will be exciting tho .

Lucy - have a good week, I am hoping the hoards will be going to your neck of Dorset if you don't mind !

Happy camping everyone and everything crossed for some decent weather .
