I can do the 'load the entire car up with kids and masses of stuff' camping, but haven't ever done the 'go by train and take the bare essentials' camping. So where do I start, what do we need and how on earth do you manage?! Will be for two adults One (me) is a pathetic lightweight!

Haven't done it for eyars but it's about multi function and paring it right down.

When ds2 goes lightweight camping it's air mat, sleeping bag, basic clothes changes, single burner (OK maybe not but the burner will be there when he's a bit older LOL- atm scouter carries it), torch, rainwear, cushion in a carrier bag for lightweight waterproof seating, tiny hairbrish, toothbrush, flannel, towel, soap and basic eating uternsils. nothing mroe and it all has to fit a rucksack.

It's quite fun as a challenge actually, once you get used to it. Youc an easily however spend as much on technical lightweight gear as family glamping.

My parents roam by train (in tehir sixties), and don't wish to carry a rucksack any mroe so each have one of those shopping trolliies to pull and fill that; they find it isn't an issue. In fact they will be mroe restricted this year by fititng into the boot of dh's SMART car tbh (just the egar, aprents get a seat in my car LOL).

A decent rucksack each for starters - get yourself a 'girl' one - the chest straps are in a different place

We travelled round Europe for a couple of months in our yoof and it is liberating - if v knackering lugging all your stuff around!

Bramshott - well around here is chav-central, so they might go traffic lighting, not myself :D

do thermarests pack real diddy? would 2 = smaller than double airbed?

Hmm I need to look at three man tents. Thought I had one, but the garage says no!
