s'mores

We're off on our first trip of the season this afternoon and DD(6) has heard all about s'mores and wants to make them.

I have a huge bag of marshmallows and can get chocolate but when I was a kid in Canada we made them with Graham crackers, which I'm pretty sure I can't get here. So has anyone had any success with a different sort of biscuit?

Hoping you can help - I'm posting this in Food as well so apologies to those who read both boards.

Try using a digestive biscuit. I'm American and that is the closest(sp?) thing you can get to a graham cracker over here in England.

Have fun camping. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather.

What we use is marshmallows on chocolate covered digestives (one less thing to carry!)

Yep, I second the chocolate digestives (we used tesco value). They worked really well. Thank you for reminding me that I need to pack/buy s'mores ingredients too for this weekend!

Omg these truly are food of the gods - we make them at Brownies - toasting the marshmallows over a nightlight!! And yes yes yes to cheapo chocolate digestives!
Also added to shopping list

How do you do it then?

bump - oh please do tell!!

From what I remember you melt marshmallows on sticks and squeeze between two choccy digestives like a sandwich.

Traditionally, I think they are marshmallow between two graham crackers (plain digestive type) with melted chocolate

Oh I see - thanks will def try next time we're camping. We always take marshmallows but this sounds a much better idea
Thanks for getting back
