I have been camping, but never taken the kids before. Can anyone reccommend a good camping site not too far from London?

What would first time family campers need to get started?

Love to hear from you.

Thanks

What do you need????

Wine.

Have you seen UK Campsite website? I don't know any sites near London but you can search there by site and they've got reviews.

You must try camping though, the kids will love it.

Depends which side of London tbh.

This one is near us. Very gentle with a chippy nearby, shops and a pub if you get really fed up with putting the tent up

can you borrow a tent just while you get the taste for camping. you will have the chance to suss out your space prioities without wasting a load of money.
my advce would be to relax routines and don't worry too much about what they eat so long as they don't go to bed hungry, be realistic about what you can cook on a camp stove!!!

Thanks everyone.

We have a medium size tent, may need a larger one. I like the idea of borrowing one. I will take a look on uk campsite website.

May consider caravaning.

Thanks for your advice everyone!!!

I would like to go camping with 4 children, but am not sure how many tents we will need.
They are all refusing to share with each other. Also, I am worried about separate tents, and waking up in the morning to find that someone has disappeared (my children are notional).

if you are South London - this one

is great for camping with lots of kids, though can be very noisy very late at weekends. charges are per head so you can have as many tents as you like.

LoL nightbynight I have that problem but only take 2 children with me. so we get round it by Dd's having 1 pod each and me and Dp sleeping in main part of tent. This works for us now they are bigger, when they were younger we used to each go in a pod with one child. Hope you work it out cos camping is great for free spirited children.

We have 4 children who have camped with us for eyars, ds4 since he was 5 weeks old.

I wopuld suggest to start with signing up for something like the caravan and camping club, as their sites can be very family friendly, you can choose ones with family bathroom facillities (handier than you'd think), and there's almost always somene about who can help if you hit any probs.

tent wise we have a Vango Monte verde 9: however it is huge and we have specific reason for needing a massive tent (SN)- we had a 3 berth outwell which was fine, or if four rooms is a preference I can recommend something like which we had the Khyam version of and was great. Youca n of course add an extra room by using a small pop up tent inside.

(and nighbynight if we can manage it with our toddler, 2 X auties and ds2 I am sure you can LOL!)
