Camping in Scotland

Any recommendations for a campsite in Scotland? No further up than Argyll really as just can't face such a long drive! Ideally something with a beach within walking distance and some facilities but not a huge commercial place.

Now we have had to cancel France due to DS's dreadful year with his epilepsy, am determined to at least leave England for a week

Ooooh, is Rosemarkie too far North for you? Right on the beach and dolphins outside the tent. (in the sea, obviously!) Hang on - I'll find a link.

Sandy hills is nice and not too big its a small park, plenty of loos/toilets and a beach very close by.

lunan bay on east coast - no midges!!

seeker · 22/05/2010 08:09

No midges at Rosemarkie either - but maybe tha's because of the fresh sea breezes!

And there's dolphins!

It looks lovely seeker...although a bit further north than Argyll

fatzak · 22/05/2010 13:05

Thanks for other suggestions, will have a look at them

We are going to Findhorn this weekend. Also have a look at Loch Morlich, between Aviemore and the Cairngorms. The loch has a beach beside the caravan site and is beautiful. Lots to see and do and the scenery is to die for.
