New Forest Camp Sites

We would like to go camping in New Forest for a couple of nights at half term.

Any one any recommendations of a nice clean campsite, with some entertainment for the children (playground/outdoor pool that type of thing). Thanks in advance.

We're off to Holland Wood for a couple of nights on the recommendation of a friend. AFAIK none of the sites actually in the forest have pools etc, but there are lovely walks, cycle rides, tree-climbing etc.

Hollands Wood is really nice - great location and right next to the Balmer Lawn Hotel where you used to be able to pay to use their pools (indoor and outdoor) for the day - don't know if you still can...

Loads of great pubs in Brockenhurst (which is where Hollands Wood campsite is) with gardens, New Forest cycle experience goes off from there which children likely to enjoy plus you can get the train to Lymington from there as well if you don't fancy the nightmare that parking in Lymington in the height of summer is.

We went to Lytton Lawn whcich is just outside the New Forest - its got a small playground and is very near the beach too. Their sister site is 5 mins away and a static site with both indoor and outdoor pools, playgrounds, bar, mini golf etc. For us it was the best of both worlds as it was a quiet site but with everything close by too. The drive to the New Forest was only 10 mins and you can see all the villages on the way too

Here is the lytton lawn website

Hollands Wood has no playground but it does have a huge open space next to the campsite. Kids heaven for footie, making friends, buliding dens, swinging across the ditch, etc.

Only been in August and it was crowded, tent that pitched next to us was nearly crossing guy lines with ours. Hopefully wouldn't be as bad in May.
