Calais to Nice stop off point

HI All,

Any advice would be mostly appreciated.

We have booked a camping holiday in Nice (Camping du Pylone) for a week in August.

We are travelling by Ferry from Dover to Calais and then driving the rest of the way to Nice.

We arrive in Calais at about 630 in the morning to begin our almost 600 mile journey! We want to drive perhaps until 1-2pm getting most of the journey completed before stopping at a family orientated hotel to spend the rest of the day and night to finish the drive the next morning.

Can anybody recommend a good town/village/hotel? Ideally we would like somewhere with good kids facilities (2 under 5's) but above all a nice atmosphere as its only for one night.

Many thanks

Hi Higgledy

Have you plotted what kind of route you'll take south? There are some lovely spots Burgandy & the Alps, but I'm not sure whereabouts roughly you'll be after a few hours drive?

According to Mappy it's nearly 764 miles from Calais to Nice - have another look at the route they suggest and try to work out where 2 hours would leave you with!
