We're thinking of camping in the Netherlands this August. Hoping to go Harwich to Hook of Holland but we've got no idea where to go. Our ds will be 22 months when we go so we need somewhere child-friendly but other than that we're open to suggestions.

Any recommendations greatfully received.

The Netherlands is very child friendly.

My favourite place turns out to be somewhere Nick Clegg also goes regularly - Terschelling - one of the Friesian Islands.

Lots of campsites there, but it would mean a second ferry.

Otherwise, Vollendam is touristy kitsch fishing village near Amsterdam, but lovely.

The east of the country is wooded and has lots of things to do and Zeeland is another great area.

Enjoy.

Thanks Jaybird. I've heard good things about the Fresian Islands before and I really like the sound of them. I also like the sound of being near Amsterdam as we'd love to pop in for the day so I'll check these places out.
