Ivykaty44 · 15/05/2010 22:07

years ago and it was really good we had 5 dc between 1 and 12 and they all loved it

roundthebend4 · 16/05/2010 04:12

Thanks glad to hear it have looked on ukcs but old reviews on there.
Wanted campsite where if not going out for day older 2especially had things to do one thing they asked for was either by the sea or a swimming pool.this seemed fit the bill and compared to other sites with pools was not to expensive

Mollieoh how old are your dc?

we went a few years ago. pool is not great, but there's a lake which will be nice for your younger children - sandy area and there's tree trunks across water and pirates ship etc. there are rope swings that you can drop into streams with. there's a zip wire that goes from half way up a tree. quite a mix of things for young and old children. i'd look at the site plan when you book as they had turned what used to be the overflow carpark into pitches and i'm not sure where the toilets were - they may hvae built some since - otherwise would be long treck. we enjoyed our stay

LittleFriendSusan · 17/05/2010 12:32

We went about 3 years ago - our kids were 3 and 5 at the time, and we loved it.

We were in the Picnic Meadow - pitches were fairly big and the River Dart ran just behind our pitch. There was a small amenities block in the field which was perfectly adequate for us.

Weather wasn't great during our stay, so we didn't actually use the pool, but the kids loved playing in the sand & adventure playground whatever the weather.

We will probably go back again when the kids are old enough to do the other activities as I'm sure they would enjoy it.

We went last year, DD was 8 and loved it. Never used the pool but DD was in the lake/lagoon every day. If you go take wetsuits for the kids. Nice adventure playgrounds.

Bar selling nice food at reasonable prices, well stocked shop.

We are hoping to go at beginning of July [ takin kids out of school --shock horror.] It looks great am hoping to go in overflow field if you look on google earth there is definately a building but whether it is amenities I don't know. Will ring them next week and ask.

herladyshiplovesedward · 20/05/2010 19:55

we didn't camp at river dart.. but we went there for the day whilst camping nearby

lots to do for our gang (2 boys of 15 and a girl of 9) they loved the assault course and the course of tires/swings over the water

we also paid extra and did canoeing and the zip wire which i thought were a bit pricey but good holiday fun

we are considering camping there on our next trip to that area

LittleFriendSusan · 20/05/2010 21:53

Ineed2 - is the overflow field the Picnic Meadow? (Just as you enter the site, on the left). I think it is from memory - if so, there is definitely an amenities block (showers, toilets, washing-up, laundry, freezers).

Ineed2 · 23/05/2010 16:08

Thanx LFS have just noticed that you replied to my post. I am going to check google earth and find out if I am thinking about the same field as you.

Pavlov · 23/05/2010 16:16

very good, especially if you have a canoe

We are going, have not been, but heard good reports from friends who have been so going to try it out.

Ineed2 · 23/05/2010 16:21

Have just looked on their site it is the picnic meadow, theres no electric but that doesn't bother us. Think am going to book it. You can book online now.

Suziewee · 28/05/2010 13:43

My brother goes every year with his family and they love it (dc 7 and 3).

I went 25 years ago and loved it, but then things have probably changed a bit since then !!

roundthebend4 · 29/05/2010 14:29
