Vango Peace 500 - good weekend tent, or too basic?

Slightly to our surprise, DH and I are seriously considering buying a second tent, purely for weekend use. And even more to our surprise, it is teepee shaped and flowery:

Vango Peace 500

(not exactly DH's normal style!)

We saw it in a showroom the other week, when upgrading sleeping bags and cooking pots in preparation for the summer. We have a perfectly good - actually rather splendid - Wolf Lake 5 for proper family holidays. But it takes over an hour, and two adults, to pitch. So there's little chance of a spontaneous overnighter - or one of us taking the kids away while the other is at work for e.g.

At the same time, £100 does seem very cheap (certainly compared to what we spent on the WL5!) and maybe it's just too basic to work.

Any pearls of wisdom? We have two girls - currently aged 4 and 7.

Hi,

It does look very basic. I got a vango 500, but a different model for under £80. Much more for the same money.

I got it for about £70 on sale at Go Outdoors a couple of years ago and it's fantastic. Loads of sleep space and big for storage at the front. I can put it up in 15 minutes with the help of my 7 yr old. I had a look on ebay and you can get a brand new one for less than yours (see link).

I'd say shop around, you can do better for the same amount. xx
