I am really unknowledgeable but am considering trying to use an EHU next time we go camping.

Could somebody please advice me on exactly whta kind of cables/plugs/convertors I need to buy? [bamboozled as I don't even know how it works emoticon]

Thank you!

Sorry, what is EHU?

I'm guessing as I don't know what it is I won't be able to help out though...

something like this should do
EHU = electric hook up

NeatFreak · 25/04/2010 16:01

Aah, thanks for that. Will have a look, seems a little too luxurious to have electricity in a tent but might make me happier!

B&Q have got EHU's at the moment for £29.99. They are on a roll, 15m long with 2 plugs. I'm completely clueless about these things but the people on UKCampsite seemed to think they were pretty good so I went for it. The cheapest I had seen them anywhere else were over £50. They aren't online, you need to go instore, but there were loads in my local one.

Don't buy cheap off ebay because it is very dangerous!

EricPicklesFatNeck · 27/04/2010 19:15

i think it is WRONG to have a ehu in a tent. get a caravan if you want that milarky

Lucycat · 28/04/2010 14:11

EricPickles why the shouty WRONG?! horses for courses and if ehu means that your wine and beer stay cool in a hot tent then why not?

You must make sure you get an orange cabled ehu - lots of campsites won't let you use the blue ones and they can be dangerous as they aren't suitable to be lying outside on the ground.

(Mind you in France we needed an extension for our ehu and the campsite told us to go to E'Leclerc and get a normal indoor one!)

EricPicklesFatNeck · 28/04/2010 14:13

sorry don't mean to be shouty!

I got an organge RCD cable with a cage bit on the plug so it's safe enough! We won't use it every time we camp but it will be useful when we're away for more than a long weekend.
