Am totally new to camping...other than with friends when I was about 12. I am now the proud owner of a year old and 3 1/2 year old. Advice required re: tent, and bed for the 1 year old, he is obv in a cot at home...probably resigned to having the older one up with us. Also how to get them to go to bed in the first place? Good sites, thinking Devon...all advice very gratefully received! Cooking, am guessing we'll need a fridge? Like I said, totally novice at this. Thanks lots in advance.

suggest looking at ukcampsites.co.uk you can also get camping books from the library/bookshop now. i would do a practise run locally or back garden and also look through the old camping threads on here. we use coolbox - but then longest we've gone for is a week. we used rollup mats when kids were young - cheap and easy. pick your site carefully - ones with clubhouses tend to be noisier at night - and check what the rules are so you know what to expect

About to try our first trip with 1.5 and 3.5 year olds; just local for 1 night to see how they go. Went to Cornwall for 1wk when our daughter was 2 and she loved it, but worried our son is not so good at settling at bedtime.. Fresh air and lots of running about may help?! We gonna try 2 ready-beds with both in fleece sleepsuits. Youngest in cot at home too, so should be interesting. Will put him in usual baby sleeping bag so at least he'll not escape so easily! We have a campervan - fridge, oven & hob included. Will put kids in bedroom in awning. They do not share a room at home so is all new. We've got the book Cool Camping, there is one specially for kids and they've got handy hints and suggested sites. Good luck to us all!
