Eydon Storm Kettle!

Thought I'd show off share as you all listened patiently to my ramblings...

Bring on the weekend!

OOOhhhh is that not like a kelly kettle?

What are you doing about your bell tent dreams? I've been reading up after falling in love and really, really wanting one. Can't drive so a trip to holland isn't on the cards

Slubberdegullion · 22/04/2010 18:56

Very nice Sal. I expect to hear of cups of tea brewed in woods by streams.

Happy water boilings

Slubberdegullion · 22/04/2010 18:57

and

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO!

MisSalLaneous · 22/04/2010 20:17

It is indeed, lunavix! Apparently better reviews (as per dh), and I'm just so excited about being able to cater to my split personality now.

Quiet woodland walks and nuclear explosions galore.

Thanks Slubber! I promise to report back soon. I'm really rather excited. Will make sure we go somewhere suitably outdoorsy on Saturday.

Oh, sorry lunavix, re Belltent... Well, after finally recovering from my Big Sulk over the fact that they cancelled my order, and not finding a suitable weekend to go to Holland, I've kind of decided to leave it for now.

I really love Slubber's tent, so might start a "tent fund" and make a final decision on a fancy tent - whether that is a Bell or Cabanon - next year. Depending on the state of the fund, the decision should be easier. In the meantime I've made friends with our Vango Orchy again.

Oooh oooh, BUT: I got a really cool hammock too. I'm like a child, I keep wanting to giggle when I think of all these exciting new toys!

Happy birthday MisSal, welcome to kelly kettle club - I hope you have a lovely brew when you try it out.

I love my hammock (it was hung a couple of weeks ago, all weather and colourful, big enough for me plus two children at least, but it is not a camping one).

MisSalLaneous · 23/04/2010 19:45

Thanks FiveOrangePips! I'll be trying the kettle out for the first time tomorrow, am taking hot choc powder, tea bags and coffee powder so I can pick and choose when the moment arrives.

Your hammock sounds wonderful!

FiveOrangePips · 24/04/2010 21:33

So was it a lovely brew?

MisSalLaneous · 24/04/2010 21:43

Ds was ill, so we didn't get to go out.

If he's ok tomorrow (just really bad cold, so might be fine), will try again. Oh, the joys, but I just felt too bad to drag him out when all he wanted to do was sleep on my shoulder, poor thing!

Great birthday presents Sal! What hammock did you get?

I love a good hammock!

Sorry to hear you can't get to holland anytime soon for that beautiful bell tent.

overmydeadbody · 25/04/2010 14:28

PS i love the kettles but the only problem I find with them is that they don't hold much water do they?

FiveOrangePips · 25/04/2010 20:32

overmydeadbody our kk holds 1.5l of water (2 and 1/2 pints) - it is perfect for several cups of coffee, non? It also heats so quickly you can have another cup when you have finished the first. We toasted marshmallows on ours today too - the big one is great for that, the smaller one is okay but i am glad we have the bigger one.

We had ours out today, really lovely, I just can't understand how coffee tastes so much better made with the kk, it is the best brew ever, I might have to chuck my electric kettle at this rate.

MisSalLaneous · 25/04/2010 21:58

overmydeadbody, it's this hammock, in "natura", with the traveller's stand in case I can only find one suitable tree.

I've got the same size kettle as FiveOrangePips, so yes, might be a bit small if the family grows, but for the two of us plus ds, it should be perfect. It does of course mean it's bigger to carry around. What size is yours, omdb?

overmydeadbody · 26/04/2010 19:16

love the hammock

I only used a kk when wild camping with 7 other adults, maybe it just seemed to not hold much water due to the sheer number of cups of tea and coffee we where triyng to make!

MisSalLaneous · 26/04/2010 19:23

Aww, thanks.

Fair enough, for 7 adults (if they've got half of my current coffee obsession), it's not even almost big enough!

shockers · 26/04/2010 19:23

Lucky gal... happy brewing!

PinkoLiberal · 26/04/2010 19:27

Ah very cool sal

Dh not keen on the storm kettle sadly. Dammit

MisSalLaneous · 26/04/2010 19:35

Thanks shockers.

PinkoLiberal, go for the "but I also like" approach - started off with dh laughing at my KK obsession, then, as my list of fabulous inventions grew, he seemed more and more keen and ended in a "you're going to love your birthday present" situation. The poor thing probably thought he'd go for this option before I fall in love with something even stranger!

OP posts:
FiveOrangePips · 26/04/2010 20:59

For six adults yesterday we had a large kk and a smaller one, all drinking mugs of tea/coffee. We had at least two cups each in quick succession, but maybe more I wasn't paying attention.

I luff it, the best camping thing we have, because we use it at weekends for picnics too (we are a bit mad and picnic all year round, in the snow drifts in January when we waded through the snow, brrrrrr, it was so good to have the kk, not sure what the cross country skiers thought of us as we huddled round our kettle).

MisSalLaneous · 26/04/2010 21:28

That sounds lovely, Five! Especially like the picture of you all huddled round it!
