Hi,
We stayed in our touring caravan in Oct 2008.
It was ok - the pitches were on the small side and it looked a bit tatty. The location is great though as its placed on the Tissington trail and you can walk or cycle traffic free into Ashbourne.
Are you looking to camp or go in a caravan?

camper van - so wondering if the pitches will be any good (heavy to get off if grass sometimes?)

want to cycle tissington trail so will be out most of the day just sleep and eve

They have alot of hardstanding pitches which would be ok. One of the reasons we didn't like it was that we had to park our car away from the caravan in a numbered parking space - no problems for you there though!
The area is lovely and we have just returned from here - also close to the Tissington Trail, not quite as close to Ashbourne (9 miles on TT).
Out of the two we prefered Rivendale however Callow Top has a more convenient location - HTH.

So if we are happy about being 9 miles from ashborne (as it is no problem for any of to cycle 18 miles)

Is it easy to get to the tissington trails from the Rivindale? I.E are there major roads to cycle on?

You have to cross a main road - the A515, to access the trail as it is opposite the site entrance. If you cycle in the other direction(abt 5 miles) it joins the High Peak Trail so plenty more off road cycling there.

Ah thats great thanks, I think the site you prefer looks a little more subdued which would suit us better

thanks for answering my trail of questions..
