Just 'cause I am nosey.

Okay I will start it off. I am going:

here

and here

and here

I like to have something to look forward to, can you tell?

Now please (please) tell me/us all where you are going, or even where you would like to go, you might convince me to book just one more campsite!

Tin x

Don't tell me you keep your campsite plans secret.

Tinny just wants to have a camp chat

We are going here at the beginning of June. We are driving down from Scotland and our friends are driving up from Northants, none of us have been to Northumberland, or this campsite before so we are really looking forward to it. The campsite has had good reviews on here and on ukcampsite.

We are also hoping to go here later in the year. A bit closer to home but Galloway is another area we have yet to explore and apparently there is an organic ice cream dairy that you can visit nearby - we could be there everyday!

Possibly some weekends away too if we can fit them in, probably back to here which is at the foot of Ben Nevis with fab views and good facilities - only downside are the midgies - they can be horrific

ATinofBiscuits · 17/04/2010 21:19

Sorry Wiggle, went to tidy my kitchen and bring in the washing (twas a good day for washing wasn't it?)

They look really lovely. I will have a look at the reviews on UK Campsite.

You might get me thinking of campsite no.4

What do you do to discourage the midgies? Is Citronella no good?

We had a bit of a wasp problem in one campsite last year.

I love doing it 'cause I love the great outdoors.

OP posts:
ATinofBiscuits · 17/04/2010 22:07

Hellooo...I am going keep trying until my bedtime.

COME ON, I am (fortunately) fairly thick skinned

OP posts:
Wiggletastic · 17/04/2010 22:24

IME nothing discourages midgies, they are tiny little devils that scoff at Citronella, hoot at Jungle formula and fairly pish themselves laughing at Avon skin-so-soft lotion. I believe that its possible to buy an electric powered machine that sooks them in and kills them but it is too effing large and too effing expensive to take camping so to continue enjoying the outdoorsy fabulousness of the West of Scotland, you just have to put up with them. Midgie-hats do work but look incredibly stupid and just mark you out as a wimp...

ATinofBiscuits · 17/04/2010 22:36

Midgie-hat you say, I have not heard of such a thing.

See maybe Wiggle the midgies is why I stay down South and favour the coast (Big soft Southerner)

twinkerbell · 17/04/2010 22:43

been to Christchurch , Forest of Dean which is lovely, been to Buckle campsite in Seaford Sussex, which is also nice but very quiet. and Park Resorts, Cowes, Isle of Wight which was very good

ATinofBiscuits · 17/04/2010 22:47

Hi Twinkerbell, thanks, I will have a look at reviews for Buckle.

Have thought about IoW but worry about additional cost of ferry. Usually I only camp for 3-4 days so might not be cost effective either if only staying for such a short time.

ATinofBiscuits · 17/04/2010 22:50

Right am off to bed.

Might bump in morning (told you I have a thick skin)

Night x

twinkerbell · 17/04/2010 22:50

Buckle is right on the sea front, there is nothing really there apart from toilets and shower block but Seaford town is nice enough and you are only 20 minutes from Brighton {smile}

Forest of Dean every time

Exogenesis · 18/04/2010 09:20

ATinofbiscuits You take 3 by yourself... madness!

I think its just that the last few years she has been to young really but she has just turned 4 so hopefully it will be better this year. I'm off to search the world wide web for the perfect camping spot!

ATinofBiscuits · 18/04/2010 09:52

E, I do like a challenge!

Mine are older than your DD, junior school ages.

I have just booked campsite no.4 and now have to tie my hands behind my back to not book anymore.

Am very tempted by Buckle.

BariatricObama · 18/04/2010 09:58

thanks wiggle. we need to find a good campsite in d&g. solway view looks lovely.

Wiggletastic · 18/04/2010 10:29

Midge hat here - only for the desperate.

Bariatric, one of the reasons we are keen to go to Galloway is that we have been told there are no midges.

BariatricObama · 18/04/2010 15:16

you were misled! they do have midge but hopefully the little shites have been killed off a bit by the cold winter
