families with teenagers and small children
prefer not to have a clubhouse and be by the sea -

should say, their website is fairly dire, but they were featured in the cool camping book and it looks idyllic. we're going there for half-term in june

croyde bay - we stayed at Bay View Farm. It is very basic but facilities were clean and tidy. It was a short walk down to the beach or up the High Street for lots of yummy eating places.

North Upton by Bantham is where I spent every summer when I was growing up, in my grandparents holiday caravan. it's properly out in the sticks, down some real country roads but is just a beautiful place. No kind of clubhouse, very very basic, but just a gorgeous place to be. We used to walk down the lane to the beach, or through the fields to the creek for barbeques. Gosh, I would go tomorrow if I could

How quaint!

I hear old Cotmore farm is jolly pleasant....

phone Bay View and talk to them (I remember it took me several attempts!). We didn't pre-book but we were able to get a site on the day we arrived. I think they have a minimum stay - something like 3 nights.

It is farmland which is opened as a campground in the summer months!

Stayed at North Morte Farmlast summer and plan to return this year. Lots of space, not too rowdy, decent showers and toilets, views out to sea, perfect!
