In the past we've just bought it in the morning but this year I fancy somewhere a bit wilder with no camp shop.

Could get it last thing at night I suppose.

UHT milk is not an option in Mila's morning cup of tea!!!!!!

Upside-down terracotta pot kept damp makes a good fridge.

I've always frozen it, then use it as it thaws out. Freeze tubs of food (i.e chilli) for second/third night and they will act as cold packs for other stuff. Have fun!

We buy a few single pint bottles of milk, freeze them and stick them in a cool bag, they keep other stuff cool and defrost over a few days.

Make sure to take some defrosted as well though so you can make yourself a cuppa when you have put the tent up

Put really cold milk into thoroughly chilled stainless steel flasks (small ones are best as you can keep them closed until needed). We have managed for 3 days this way!

agree freeze milk

also cravendale milk is great camping as it doesnt go off for several days longer than normal milk

does no one have a cool box? a 12/240 volt one?

nannyl · 17/04/2010 07:59

also i have a small cool bag that i but in a big coolbag

i put a couple of cool blocks in the big cool bag too and it keeps the stuff in the small cool bag cool for so much longer

we use two or three small cool bags - one for immediate use with a cool block thingy, then ones for later days which we freeze most stuff in them and let defrost slowly. it also means you don't have to open the bags for later in the week.

I have a cool box (not one that plugs n just an insulated box) Fill with ice ... place bts in and ting a fridge for a week (unless you are someplace REALLY hot)
