I will make a booking today!! I've been uhming and arhing for ages. I just want beach access and plenty for my kids to do (I know it's going to be a difficult task to please dd1 - 14). My choices are:

Canvas in a tent
cala gogo
le Soleil

Eurocamp mobile home
Les Méditerranées

I would appreciate any advice if you have been to any sites or have any knowledge. Les Med seems to tick all my boxes but the two canvas options will be almost half the price.

Hi,I love the languedoc!!We are going for the third year this year.
We have stayed in one in the hills near carcassone which was lovely but a little windy and not much for the kids. The second year we went to seriginan plage which was fab, loads for kids, directly on the beach and had an adults only baleno spa thing.
This year we are going to La Brasilia which is also directly on the beach and has new waterpark.
We have booked with yelloh in the past and they were great but we couldn't get into La Brasilia this year wuth them so are going with thomson al fresco.Think eurocamp also go to both of them.
Its such a lovely area of France,am sure the kids will enjoy whereever you decide to go.

We did keycamp in a supertent in Calagogo - lovely site - lovely pool and right on the beach. Extremely clean and good shower toilets, Aqua land just up the road.

laduree · 15/04/2010 09:24

We spent a few days on site but went out and about too, lots of wine tasting.
You must go to Carcassone, its very busy and a bit of a toursut trap but well worth it.Am going this year again, will probably eat n the same place as we always do and look in the same shops and go on same train around town but kids love it and there is a lovely atmosphere there. There is even a shop there now that sells macaroons. Can't get much better really.!!
Sete is also lovely, fab resturants near the sea front and boat trips. They had jousting on when we went and boys loved that.
Hope that helps,You will have a whale of a time.

that's so helpful laduree! What time of year have you been? We are going May half term (end May / beg June) and I'm a little bit worried after reading reviews online about it not being warm enough to swim at this time of year. Hmm... I want a glorious beach holiday .

sorry CaptainUnderpants... I missed yours first time reading! That is exactly what I want to hear. I think I am favouring Calagogo - mostly for the price. Hubs and dd1 are rooting for Les Med... they weren't home last night so we will be booking tonight. We will be!! I'm not capable of making a decision on my own .

We went in july and august. We are going mid august this year. The first year we went the weather was ok but cos the site was high it was windy and cool at times.
The second time it was hot, unbearable at times,if you go in moile home AC is a must ,particulary at night as they get very warm. You feel theres no rest from the heat otherwise.

CaptainUnderpants · 15/04/2010 10:28

If you go towards the end of August , firstly it will be cheaper and secondly alot of the other Europeans start heading home as school starts earlier.

Laduree, we're going to a campsite with Siblu this year in Argeles but flying into carcassonne and staying rhere the night before. Can you recommend anywhere to stay or a place to eat please? It does look fab!! thanks!

laduree · 15/04/2010 13:03

Hi Leslaki, you msut be going near where we are, don't think Argeles is that far from Canet.
I have never stayed in carcassone,we stayed in a shed type thing on a campsite. There are loads of hotels around carcassone. There is one in the centre of the old town which is supposed to be fantastic though. There are loads of places to eat in the old town. There is a big square in the centre covered with trees, its beautiful. You can get a reasonably priced set menu with cassoulet .The resturant we go to also provides a cool class of limoux.Perfect.

kiwibella · 15/04/2010 20:17

I have realised today that for what we will spend in petrol, perhaps we could fly???

We are travelling at the end of May. I wish I could go in the summer but I can't afford it. We are getting a week's holiday for £200 by going at this time of year.

You could fly but make sure that you don't travel on a Saturday when flights are more expensive - found that out ourselves when we went
