I want to try new sites with my dss and dp. Dp and I can just throw some things in the car and camp anywhere but I like a bit more in the way of facilities for the dss. Any tips? TIA

I'm in NE England and don't want to go to far at the moment unless it's on a plane

Have you been to Knights Stainforth outside Settle? Not a huge amount on site but great river to play in. Fisherground in the Lakes also great. I saw your other post about Haven sites - know exactly what you mean, as I have always liked to have something on site but having been to some really basic ones last year (Upper Booth in the peak district my favourite) I have swung much more that way!!

Thanks fatzak, we were looking at that one dp is really keen to go as he heard it's good. I'd like to go on the settle to carlisle train too so think that one will be high on the list
Dp and I are so basic we even camp behind a pub that only has a loo. It'll be wild camping next A friend of mine does that and it sounds good as long as you don't mind digging a hole

If you haven't already why not join mums-tent there's a lot of mumsnetters on it already It's free and has places to add favourite sites, tips etc...

By the way I started mums-tent because I got hooked on camping last year (blame sallystrawberry ) and a friend told me how to do my own site. Can't think how I came up with the name though

Any other sites? It's so cold today I'm not quite as enthusiastic but it's good to be prepared

Great Langdale in the lake District is lovely. Lots of walkers and families and good pubs nearby for food and beer.

Thanks for that Batteryhuman I'll have a look.
