Euro/Keycamp sites in Spain?

My husband and I are planning to go in June with our DD (2yrs). Fastcat to somewhere in France (cant afford ferry to spain) from Portsmouth then leisurely (pah) couple of days driving down to Costa Brava/Dorada.

Have read some tripadvisor reviews of some sites but very mixed and often relating to older kids.

Any recommendations?

June will not be full of teenagers as even in Spain they wil still be at school - so it will be quiteish on the camping front

Oh and have you costed the petrol form herborge to Spain aginst the erry to santander? Petrol in france is not cheap, more expensive than uk last summer and spain is cheaper for petrol but no lpg allowed to be sold.

We have stayed at El Delfin Verde and loved it, but this year we are going near to Barcelona at Sanguli which gets really good reviews.

We have also had great holidays in the Languedoc.

For driving that distance, save the money and drive from Calais. Still get there with an overnight stop.

Um Ivy makes a good point... my wife and I have driven several times from the UK to Spain and it is no cheaper going overland through France than getting the ferry to Santander/Bibao - once you factor in the fuel and toll costs it's about the same to be honest, so unless you are planning to stop off in France it's probably not worth it. my MIL lives in Cahors so that's the only reason we go via France...

there's some lovely campsites and a nature reserve near Roses north of Girona
