I've found this website on the ukcampsite site and wondered if anyone here has been. They don't accept bookings and I was wondering what the chances are of being able to turn up in August and find a space. Could turn up on a Monday when hopefully people might have left on the Sunday and there could be space?

We have been a couple of times, sunny weekends in June or July. I don't know about in August but we phone before going just to check - they have a lot of space. I'd have thought you had a good chance if you turned up on a Monday.

There are lots of other campsites in the area, about 6 big ones just along the road towards North Morte, so you could always fall back on one of those - they are OK sites, not as lovely as North Morte. you'd be bound to get in somewhere.

We've been, May half term. It's a very nice site with good shower blocks etc and close to great beaches and so on. However, if you do go be careful where you pitch. We asked for a pitch not too far from the loos so our kids wouldn't have to walk too far if they needed to go in the night. We ended up with a very exposed pitch and our holiday only lasted two nights as high winds completely destroyed our tent (Hartford XL). Other tents were also damaged and people were having to leave too. We ended up spending the night in the car and then dragging our tent over to the bins, where we left it. We spent the rest of the week at home.

We're going very close to there in Aug in our Caravan to Damage Barton but you have to be members of the Caravan Club or Camping & Caravanning Club. Good Luck.

I'm torn between where to go. I'd really like somewhere wher I can walk to the beach and I think Damage Barton is a bit too far. North Morte looked closer and really nice but I've read lots of reviews on ukcampsite now that says its really sloping in the camping field. If my van isn't level the gas won't work and the fridge and hob won't turn on so thats no good.

Flutterbye, have you been to Damage Bartob before? Am still very undecided about where to go but now swaying towards there. Lots of reviews on ukcamping say its a very windy
site though, too windy to sit outside, etc.

Its very sloping, there are some flat spots but I imagine those get snapped up in busy times it is a beautiful campsite though and the nearby beach is STUNNING
