shell island

Has anybody camped on Shell Island in Wales and if yes would you recommend it?

My cousins used to camp there every summer for years and years.

The year I joined them with my then partner (at least 18 years ago), it poured down for the whole few days we were there

I remember there were loos and washing machines and a club-house, but apart from that it was quite wild and unspoilt.

if you read the views on ukcampsites.co.uk it sounds bit grim. which is a shame as i remember visiting the beach as a child on a sunny day and it was magical

I hear it has gone downhill (I went 15 years ago and it was stunning). Definitely not recommended now for family groups. Noisy crowds of single sex parties seems to be the image it has gained over the past few years and definitely to be avoided on bank holidays. As 'dreamingofsun' mentioned, check out the uk-campsites website for the most recent reviews and go for the majority verdict.
