How do I clean my tent carpet?

Just back from a lovely trip to Cornwall where the sun was shining but now have a rather large tent carpet that needs a good clean. Interested in how others have coped with this. Any good suggestions?

Have just hoovered mine and wiped it down with cloth and hot water.
Neighbour got hers dry cleaned due to someone being sick on it , she wouldn't reccomend that , said the carpet has come away from it's backing!

We also have the sick problem due to small DD not liking her dinner so I think it will take more than a wipe down with hot water. It doesn't seem to have any cleaning instructions on it which is annoying.

aah right maybe dry clean the only option then ...
