What cookset do you use?

I'm kitting out a campervan that we're going to rent out, and there could be up to 5 people in the party. I use tiny saucepans in our camper and take proper saucepans for our fortnight's holiday in a tent. But for our customers I wanted to put in decent sized saucepans that take up as little room as possible.

What do you use? Has anyone got a camping set that is big enough for a group of 5?

They'll have a 2 ring burner in the van and a Cadac safari chef to cook on.

It's easily big enough for 5 people ..and you can cook big one pot meals in the big one

The smaller pan goes in the bigger one and then they both sit in the frying pan.

I was looking at the Jamie Oliver Survival Kit last night... Looked rather nice apart from the JO name. it's Tefal really.

I rather like that JO set too

Do you like the JO set would the blue camouflage pattern on the outside not infuriate you? It's Jamie pretending to be Bear Grylls, who has blue camouflage anyway, mermen? The size of the pans look good but the outside would give me the splayed toes.

I'd stick with the small stacking saucepans and just put one big normal non camping saucepan or wok in as well.

we just got the same set as troutpout and i'm impressed. heated up much quicker than my usual heavy-based pans so you use less gas.

I have the same as troutpout too. They are great, and as millenniumfalcon said, they do heat up quickly.

Slubber, indeed, i could do without the camouflage, but they look like good quality pans. And once I've burnt them a fair bit, you won't notice the blue stuff.

Okay - our J.O. set arrived this morning - indeed the colour is a bit naff, but the pans themselves look good. Only complaint is that there is nothing clipping it all together. We can improvise something, but it would have been sensible for them to have had a clip or band of some sort.

I wondered that...do they just balance ontop of each other? Thats a bit pants...it wouldn't have taken much to include a small bag would it?

I was very taken with the video on Amazon. I suppose you could make a bag for them if you didn't have a life wanted to.

They do stack beautifully inside each other, and would be great just sitting in a cupboard as they take up so little space, but yes, it needs a bag or something. Am thinking a string bag from the pound shop will probably do the trick (MO I am NOT making one!!).

I like the look of the JO ones ... I wonder if blue is the only colour, it's just the van and its accessories are black and white and funky colours (pics on my profile if anyone wants a nosey!).

The Coleman ones look good as well. If they're big that's good, what I don't want is our customers saying they didn't have the right equipment to cook with.

We bought the JO survival kit earlier this year specifically for camping having previously used my backpacker's set (which was too small and too thin - food burnt if not stirred for 2 nanoseconds) and also tried taking domestic pans which just don't pack effectively.

Verdict: Bloody brilliant. Plenty big enough for 4-5 people, deep sides to keep things cleaner and tidier, handle attaches nice and firmly - no worries about it detaching whilst carrying laden pans.

packed footprint is quite large but then you can pack plenty of stuff inside for transport. Glass lids are a bit heavy but that gives them robustness.

Colour - only blue, but for goodness sake you're camping not at the ideal home exhibition!

And I know what you're saying about the colour - if they were for us I'd not worry (in fact our own campervan is blue) but this is for a brand new conversion that is being rented out and I want it to look good, not like I've not really thought about what I've put in it.
