Blackberry Wood or alternative

We really like the look of Blackberry Wood in Sussex for our camping next year. We want to get going on booking our next camping trip after coming back today from our ten day camping trip to Robin Hood's Bay, nr Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Blackberry Wood gets booked up very quickly so if we can't get in, will still want to book somewhere similar. Does anyone know of a similar campsite in the woods where you can have camp fires?

Blackberry Wood is lovely but I haven't been when it's crowded- not sure how the facilites cope during school hols.

Thanks, that looks like a lovely location. It still looks a bit "open" though. I know this might be a tall order but I'm really looking for somewhere with a bit more seclusion per pitch, rather than just a field full of tents. Not antisocial, it's just nice sometimes to feel like you're in your own little world, and that's hard when you can hear other people's kids, dogs etc.

Anyone know of any sites where you get your own little bit of space surrounded by woodland etc, to give that "tucked away" feeling?

Blackberry Wood is a bit of a rarity. There are 2 others which I know have woodland pitches and allow campfires. They are Woodland Campsite and Welsummer Camping both in Kent. Not as good as Blackberry Wood but probably come as close as you're going to get.

Try Woo woo it's not far from Blackberry Wood. They allow campfires and encourage musicians to bring guitars etc!

Although ever since Cool Camping raved about it, it does seem to get full quickly....

There are quite a few woodland campsites in Sussex, we stayed at one near East Grinstead -Ashwood FArm - n- no cars allowed into the camping wood, so parked at farm and then borrowed wheelbarrows to transport tent etc to the site - the kids loved that bit! Camped right in wood, no pitches as such just clearings, campfires allowed, compost loos but no showers - so not great if staying for longer than a weekend although i think you can have shower at the farmhouse- site is woodlandcampingeco.wordpress.com
