Just experienced a camping first. Heard a rhythmic scratching sound during the night, and wondered what sort of wildlife would make that noise outside my tent. Then began to 'feel' a rhythmic pulse under my pillow. MOLES. We stayed 4 nights. Any longer and we probably would have collapsed into the maze of feeding tunnels they were busily working on.
Was a bit freaked out at first, but sort of got used to it. At least, it was ok when the ground wasn't moving!

We had badgers in Cheddar once, awful noise at night and then a tunnel by the tent next day

However our pitch was in an area known as Badgers Hols so there you go LOL

This season however has been The Season Of The Shagging Neighbours- just as noisy but far less cute (and embarassing the next day when you see them, especially if its obvious they're faking )

Most exciting I've had was a raccoon outside, but it was Washington State.
