How do you fit it all in?

I can't remember how. Must have managed it as we haven't that much more stuff than last time.
We have

Large tent
4 x sleeping bags
4 x mattresses
picnic table
stove & gas
box of stuff - pans, bowl, plates etc
assorted balls
food
clothes
children

just looking at the car and estimating where things have to go there is no room at all for any clothes.

Should I look into roofboxes? or a trailer?

You can always find room. Your eyes are overestimating. Honestly.

If you really struggle, leave the children behind. that will give you room.

Well if it's only clothes etc. that are over then a top box. If it's heavy stuff then a trailer......

buy ball when you get there.
Don't take bulky clothes...take thinner layers?
stuff things under kids legs?
