I have this idea that I'd like to go to a festival some day with the dcs - but it needs to be a kind of middle aged quiet affair with interesting acoustic music and fun for the dcs. Any ideas?

let's have a cropredy meet up next year ;)

norksinmywaistband · 29/07/2009 21:16

now THAT is a great idea, we could commendere an entire section of the family campsite

elliott · 29/07/2009 22:23

why not? A date for 2010?

We are going to Belladrum this year, will be my first festival with children, it is meant to be very family friendly, maybe slightly too far north for you Southerners.

TigerDrivesAgain · 29/07/2009 22:30

cornbury is good for kids, but not very near the north

MayorNaze · 29/07/2009 22:32

ooh ooh i am off to cropredy this year!!! not been before but looking forward to it

alreet molly

mollyroger · 29/07/2009 22:32

well, dh and i are festy-starved this year so i am desperate to book some one for next year. Cropredy it is ! I love everything about festivals - except for that 3am ''will you all SHUT THE FUCK UP and let me sleep'' bit....
And we have huge affection for Cropredy and Fairport and folk in general.

mollyroger · 29/07/2009 22:33

get you with your multi-festivalness Mayor!

MayorNaze · 29/07/2009 22:34

oh yes. i am actually kate moss in disguise dontcha know

this year is the "experimental year" - if works out ok then festival touring is what we will do with our summers!!!

so any recommendations gratefully received!!!

elliott · 29/07/2009 22:38

so where are/have you been mayornaze? Will you report back from cropredy?
I have to say I have only ever been to one festival - Glastonbury in 1987 Now I'm a bit middle aged and looking for something more sedate!

Beautiful Days

mollyroger · 29/07/2009 22:42

No. I am Kate Moss in disguise. It is a VERY good disguise...at first glance, you might mistake me for an ageing, uglier, plumper version...

MayorNaze · 29/07/2009 22:45

oh i will report back! have just done WOMAD - i thought it was good. damp but good. kids loved it (have done glasto a couple of times but pre kids)

well if you are kate moss moll then i must be sienna whatserface

MayorNaze · 29/07/2009 22:46

where is beautiful days?

mollyroger · 29/07/2009 22:50

Exeter. To be fair, you do kind of need to like the Levellers, as it is their festival. But the line up is very diverse.

MayorNaze · 29/07/2009 22:54

i'm not adverse to the levellers...

is it july/aug time or earlier?

mollyroger · 29/07/2009 22:55

August...around 3rd week. prob sold out this year. never mind, we'll go next year with Toot and Osba

MayorNaze · 29/07/2009 22:57

will remember that - gotta go now - shift finishing!

Remotew · 29/07/2009 22:59

I'm going to one in Cumbria this weekend, the weather better pick up. Not sure how small or child friendly it's going to be.

mollyroger · 29/07/2009 23:00

Solfest? very child friendly

No it's Kendal Calling but it's not in Kendal this year.

Will report back.

ipiratethief · 29/07/2009 23:03

this looks quite good, it's small.

near Crediton.

aeon festival

mollyroger · 29/07/2009 23:04

Larmer tree no good for those with older children as you have to take last week of school off

treedelivery · 29/07/2009 23:09

We are trying Solfest, which is Cumbria. There is a babybus and friends went last year with a 2.5 and a 0.5yo baby and had a great time.

The website is pretty good.
