am taking my mum, camping refusenik (scotland, 1960s, girls brigade) camping, want it to be half decent.

Also in party, dp, 3 young kids, whatever friends with kids I can rustle up.

We'd have to go in school holiddys.

They look the same to me...anyone got any thoughts on which to book?

I have just got back from christchurch 2 weeks ago and love it. Nice beaches at high cliff and mudeford, strawberry picking, and a nice little theme park that takes Tesco clubcard voucher thingies HTH

We've only been to Christchurch and it was lovely. The showers are hot/free and powerful but the toilet block does need a revamp. that being said it was very clean for the whole week we were there.

Lots of lovely walks in the forest. Loved it!

think we are sold on christchurch, apparently it is nearer the shops

have heard a rumour that there is a costa coffee at christchurch? is that true?

yes thats true

if you want a site with nothing but basics, there is one called medowbanks. It has toilets, bathrooms, laudery, little shop and a tiny little games room with a pool table. It has a lovely river to walk along and a little park just outsside. Will say it has statics there too though, and beach is a drive away.

highly recommend mudeford or highcliff but only stayed in statics though

Fillyjonk · 11/07/2009 22:06

is it close to forest of dean? need not long drive....

LOL Christchurch I know is in Bournmouth, Im guessing theres another near forest of Dean.

RubberDuck · 11/07/2009 22:28

Christchurch is better than Bracelands - has a playground and the shop on site - if you're at Bracelands you have to walk up that hill to get to that shop and the pain au chocolats!

saggyhairyarse · 12/07/2009 11:27

Christchurch is nice and is indeed near the shop with the coffee!

Also, spacious pitches and pretty spot.

I did really like Christchurch in the Forest of Dean.

However the toilet facilities aren't great and a bit past their sell by date. You have to time a shower for hot water, the drains often couldn't cope with the amount of water. Much as I like standing in a pool of water ;) luckily I no longer have a toddler. They're kept clean tho and the staff did extra cleaning if there was a complaint.

There was a Costa Coffee machine in the shop but over a May bank holiday and half term it never was in operation. We asked several times when it would be fixed and kept getting the reply that it wasn't working LOL The appearance of pain au chocolate and croissants was a bit erratic, seeing as it was a busy half term and bank holiday. I don't mind but my 7 year old kept hopefully going most mornings, lined up for 15 mins, then told they didn't have any that day. He wasn't best happy!

Oh dear that sounds as if we didn't like it, we did LOL It's just that we'd seen Costa and left the stove top expresso maker at home, I was gasping for a proper coffee by the end ;)

Washersaurus · 12/07/2009 20:43

Oooh not Christchurch - too cramped and the facilities are old and yacky, and there is no view of anything, except the play area (which is not really suitable for younger children)

Bracelands on the other hand, is spacious with fabulous views and a lovely new facilities block. The nicer tents are usually to be spotted on Bracelands too

AND when I came out of the toilets in the middle of the night, there was a herd of deer outside the door, it was absolutely fantastic.

We stay on Bracelands 2-3 times a year..the walk uphill for coffee isn't that bad.

Bracelands! Loads of space.

Christchurch is all on top of eachother, no privacy, no space to play etc etc.

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 13/07/2009 17:17

I like Christchurch because of trhe aprk but TBH they are pretty much the same place

definitely nearer the shops

Wave t us if youre there Aug 17th week as we will also be about

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 13/07/2009 17:18

Oh a tip

the showers closest to the staff caravan are by far the better ones
