Camping

Our UK Camping forum has all the information you need on finding the right equipment for your tent or caravan.

In 6 hours i'm setting off to camp for the first time. 2 adults, 3 dc (inc a baby) - one small caravan, one small tent, no electric, no water, no loo. Come and look at what I'm taking and advise!

The caravan is MINUTE with a teeny weeny 2 ring stove and enough room to sleep me, baby and DD. DH and DS1 are going in the tent

We will be up a massive hill in Scotland, nearest house 15 minutes drive away, nearest shop 25 minutes drive away (God help us)

So tea tonight will be picnic made at home
Breakfast tomorrow is croissants and jam
Lunch tomorrow is BBQ then we will eat dinner on the way home at McDonalds a small local restaurant.

I've assembled:-

tent
mallet
pillows
airbed
elec pump
sleeping bags (inc baby sleeping bag)
sheet (for caravan)
3 x big bottles of water
bottles of drinks
beer
pans
plates and cutlery
BBQ, coal etc
big bowl for washing in
2 packs of wipes(!)
bug repellent
citronella candles
suncream and a first aid box
change of clothes
2 towels
walking boots
hats
loo roll
shovel (niiiice)
potty (for older DCs to use in a horrified manner)
SAK
toys
DS
camera
big knife in case a werewolf comes in the night

I'm struggling a bit re food. Have got frozen burgers & sausages for BBQ, and bread, but could I bake potatoes in the camp fire? Shit! Matches! I need matches.

Any advice/recommendations?

Spare batteries for torch, camera, ds etc
We always take nutri-grain bars and a variety pack of mini cereals - stuff that can be eaten dry with minimum effort.
And gin. Lots f gin.

MamaG · 10/07/2009 11:45
