Anyone recognise this campsite from a description?

I think its in Derbyshire, though possibly Staffs. When we stayed tehre we drove one day to The Roaches in Staffs and the next day we drove to Dove Dale. I think it was closer to the Roaches than Dove Dale.

The camping site was very basic and had a field with a stream running through it. The toilet block was on the other side of the road and I don't think directly opposite the camping field. I think you had to walk up the road a short way to the farm. It was in the middle of nowhere.

can you remeber the name of any pubs nearby, or anything like that?

maybe in the manifold valley? nr rudyard lake?

We didn't go to any pubs. Manifold Valley could be right sort of area.

I've now been through every campsite in Staffs and Derbyshire on the UKcampsite website. Any which looked possible (not a CCC site or a tiny 5 pitch one), I've looked at reviews/photos of and still can't find it.

It was 12 years ago that I went though so guess it could have shut down.

hmm, I know the area pretty well, but can't think of the site, neither can dh. maybe look on google earth? you will be able to at least see if it is still there.

oooh was it near Hathersage? I was at a campsite that fits your description a few weekends ago but can't remember the name. Run by the national trust?

Was it called North Lees campsite?

No it was further west than Hathersage. I've been to North Lees and definetly not there. Will have to try google earth when I have an hour or so to spare.
