Tell me about windbreaks

I need a windbreak to put around my cooker so that it doesn't take 6 hours to boil a kettle. We'll be camping at a festival on a flat site where the wind howls across, rushes in between all the tents and directs itself at my burners.

We've got an Outwell one but it's not that great - flaps around a lot and has lots of guy trip-ropes (not so good with 18mo this year).

Ukcampsite recommends the stripey hammer-in ones. But are they noisy, flapping at night?

You're right, there was.

But no advice on loudness.

So. Are the cheapo stripey ones noisier than the posh Outwell ones? Are the pretty Blue diamond ones quieter?

Having had an Outwell one last year and returning it, I would say

The outwell ones are shit, they flap, move, fall down and generally cause a commotion.

The cotton ones should be very quiet, but I decided were too expensive and heavy, and I was worried about what they would look like after a) a muddy camp and b) being next to fat splahes from the cooker, and as I am a bit anal about stuff being clean, I reluctantly passed them by.

So this year I have an ultra cheap plastic, recomended by ukcs one, I imagine it will be noisy, but at least it is sturdy and easy to clean and cheap to replace.

I did have a noisy kyham one which lasted about 2 outings
I have a blue diamond one now and (now that you say it) i haven't noticed it being noisy

So, I should convince dh we need to spend the extra £20 on a blue diamond one rather than a stripey plastic one?

Wonder what Outwell techie ones go for on ebay ...

Well ...i'm not sure the blue diamond are better than a normal stripy one tbh...i have no experience. They aren't plastic so won't have that plastic sound in the wind...thats the only advantage i guess.
