Do you really need to dry your hair? Can you not just let it dry on its own? Or not wash it at all ?

troutpout · 20/06/2009 21:37

No you don't. Let it dry naturally
Yes most sites with good facilities do have plugholes...but basic sites won't

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 20/06/2009 21:37

Where does the water go, then?

runs away

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 20/06/2009 21:38

I heard some teenagers at the site we went to last weekend absolutely mortified at the fact there were no plugs for them use with their hair straighteners!

But we did have running water.

Lilyloo · 20/06/2009 21:39

I haven't let my hair dry naturally since a kid (pre hair straightener days and many tears)
Think of a bush , combed backwards with a dodgy perm thrown in

The not wash preferrable to dry naturally tbh

How long are you going for? Just don't bother washing it/keep it tyed back. Seriously you will feel liberated and when you do get to wash and dry your hair, it will be bliss

Lilyloo · 20/06/2009 21:45

for 7 days but greasy is a whole lot better than clean and bushy!

Lol thinking my site requirements might need to change , never mind dp looking at basic with campfires

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 20/06/2009 21:46

Oh you have to do campfires . Buy a cap.

Lilyloo · 20/06/2009 21:57

LOL even my shower one is better than au naturel !!!

Lucycat · 20/06/2009 22:36

No! decent sites will have a plug socket in the shower block - and maybe some flowers!

troutpout · 21/06/2009 08:23

Go natural
No one will recognise you anyway

fatzak · 21/06/2009 11:25

We've got an adapter that runs off the car cigarette lighter and you can then plug in "normal" plugs eg hair dryer. I haven't used it for camping yet but would be an idea if you are desperate! (I am currently researching dry shampoo to get me through a possible trip with no showers!!!!)

flatcapandpearls · 21/06/2009 11:40

I have just got back from taking 30 teengagers camping and was amusedto hear the girl planning to get up at 6 to do their hair and makeup! I dont think there were plugs but there was a shared hairdryer thing and lovely hot showers

dylsmum1998 · 21/06/2009 21:05

i have stood under the hand dryer in the loos to dry my hair while camping........

dylsmum1998 · 21/06/2009 21:06

oh and dry shampoo is a must too, never go away without it

Lilyloo · 22/06/2009 12:16

ooh fatzak what are those adaptors , sounds ideal.
Never heard of dry shampoo either!

Lol at wurzel but i am worse than that

dylsmum1998 · 22/06/2009 12:39

dry shampoo

you can get it for less than this in wilkos, superdrugs etc

Ivykaty44 · 22/06/2009 12:41

dry natural and gas straightners?

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 22/06/2009 12:43

I'm having a steam brush that runs on gas for my birthday to solve this issue as my once croped ahir is now long and thick. However my usual plan of action is plait then pin up.

We're taking EHU but wouldn't use to dry as in all truth I haven't used my hairdryer for years. It's for a fridge and light plus recyharger only.

fatzak · 22/06/2009 17:11

Our is different but adaptor here Ours has three plug sockets!! I can't remember why DH bought it in the first place but it wasn't for camping!

So does dry shampoo get the thumbs up?

dylsmum1998 · 22/06/2009 19:39

i use dry shampoo a lot especially when we are away. i really like it, word of warning if you have dark hair (mine is very dark brown) spray it on lightly and slowly build up if you need more don't just spray all over like i did the first time cos you end up grey

NeedaNewName · 22/06/2009 19:45

whats EHU?

Phoenix · 22/06/2009 19:52

Fatzak - Hi, dry shampoo is fab. My hair normally needs washing everyday but i can get away without doing it for 2-3 days using that dry shampoo. I have tried Toni and Guy stuff and its rubbish compared to that one in the link.

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 22/06/2009 22:08
