Hello, we are thinking of buying a camper van (T25) and wondered if anyone could recommend a good insurance company. Thank you!

i got quotes from loads of specialist campervan companies and ended up getting the best quote (by hundreds) from directline who i have a 9 years no claims with. they apply the no claims to both vehicles so there is no transfer.

with direct line it was £160 as opposed to the £280 - £500 quotes is got from specialist companies. and it is the same sort of cover.

good luck!

Yes I can -really really good - will go off and find out there name. They are excellent with cover abroad, customer service is fab and they even fax the insurance to portugal for me as the van is always there when the reknewal comes up.

safe guard and they come out best in a survey in one of the motervan mags in smiths at the moment.

They will insure you for 365 days of the year and are good for eu cover to get you home if needed as they cover anysize van - aa restrict to under 20 foot.

Thank you so much. I am off to investigate further and will let you know how i get on.

HIC offerred me £175 for a T25. They also do guaranteed agreed value if you pay an extra £12. This is worth ti with an older "classic" van as other companies may just say "oh, its a 20 year old van, we'll write it off and you can have £200". So be careful. You have to seed in photos to get the agreed value and then they come to an agreement with you about how much its worth.

maxybrown · 12/06/2009 17:25

We have T25, with a classic insurance thingy. Will check with Dh as it comes with it's own personal breakdown too! Then we have 2 breakdown services to go at lol. We have 2 classic vehicles so kind of essential

james79 · 12/06/2009 20:39

Yes-forgot about the valuation thing...will check it out. Congrats again Stripy and cheers Maxy
