virgin camper please recommend me a tent...

for myself,dh,ds 4 and ds 18mths.We are completely clueless and need some guidance.I want something spaciuos but nothing thats going to blow away or leak. Please help me this may be the only holiday we have this year.

Khyam Seattle Family Tunnel Tent 2009 i was looking at this tent any thoughts

hi there only just seen this we too were virgin campers earlier this year and got this tent. We have only used it once so far but it was great, no complaints, easy to put up, waterproof, very spacious. We are just about to use it again next week (and I was not keen on camping!)

as has a hh of 5000, the seattle at 2000hh is the min for the UK but Khyams are a good make

They are both big tents though.... you probably ok with either a 6 man like this.. which gives you a pod for storage/or to take out for extra space

is very sturdy and huge living space which we really appreciated with small child!

as you will probably want the dcs next to you for a while. If you can find somewhere with display would definately recommend going

Anything by Vango. They make very good family tents.

we too went to a camp shop on the A22 that had loads out - makes it much easier to decide.

yes and had been very good - I don't really know what the hh actually gives you but I was told 2000 is ok - does 5000 just make it more waterproof or warmer?

hh does have a very technical definition (dont know what it is though) but basically is waterproofness..... 2000 is ok but 5000 is very good, lots of family tents are 3000 don't think it affects warmth....but somebody more technical might or on ukcs might/will know..

I have had vango and outwell and almost bought a khyam this time as saw some and they looked really tough and well made so able to handle kids running around them ...had mixed times with Vango's but would def go for a 3000 with them everything else eg groundsheet etc seems to be better if you spend a little more...our last one was a 2000 and groundsheet very flimsy (was vango oregon very similar to the current Icarus)
