Hi all, we want to go camping at half-term and in a spirit of adventure we thought we'd try Kent for a change. We do not know Kent at all so any ideas for a site?

We prefer a small, friendly type of site but with decent loos and showers, preferably with disabled facilities too. Also we will have an autistic 9 yo so no deep lakes, unfenced cliff edges or other deadly hazards.

Thanks very much.

Couldn't ignore you

We stayed at Kloofs near Bexhill-on-Sea. Not quite in Kent but nearly! It's a nice site, fantastic loos and showers, good family bathing facilities, so imagine disabled access will be good too. All in all a great place to spend a few days.

Have a look at Manor Court Farm in Kent - www.manorcourtfarm.co.uk. It is near to quite a few stately homes - Groombridge Place, Hever Castle (children love the water maze and playground and the boating lake) and Penshurst Place, for example.

Really nice small site which allows campfires and has wooden tables and chairs on the pitches (not sure if this is on all but certainly those in the orchard bit which is where we stayed). Showers and loos were clean and well looked after though the block is not big. There are also washing machines. Not sure about disabled facilities I am afraid but everything seemed fairly accessible.

The only potential hazard we were aware of was the road by the site which the children could get out to through the bushes from where we were camped but once you are aware of that you can keep an eye on them (and it may have been fenced off by now of course).

I don't know anywhere to camp in Kent, but I do live there! So, once you've settled on a site, I'll be able to make some good suggestions on things to do!
