Balamory area for camping?

Would love to take DC to see the village that is where they film lots of Balamory. Its on the island of Mull. Has anyone been or know anything about it. There is a basic looking campsite near but it seems a long way to go if the area is not up to much! Any views?

Hi I have been to Tobermorey. There is a campsite next to the ferry terminal with pre set up tents which looked like it would be fun with a little one.

There's a castle with a train ride and some painted shops although they tend to be a bit over the whole Balamory thing.

I'd recommend Mull for a visit, its very quaint.

No views on specific campsites, but parts (maybe not all) of Mull are infested with midgies in summer. A friend of mine lives there and has to wear full bee-keeping gear, netted hat and gloves etc, after 6pm outside after June. So camping there doesn't sound great in high summer to me.

Earlier in the year may be fine, but please do check with the tourist board and campsite for midgies before booking anything!

I'd say PC Plum's house and Archie's castle are prime spots for camping. From what I've seen of their on-screen activities.

What?

I'll get me coat.

Tobermory is beautiful - as is the rest of the Island.

CAMPING
Mull has three main campsites on the island at Craignure, Balmeanach and Tobermory. Another, more informal site is situated at Fidden on the Ross of Mull. Informal camping on the island is not a problem, provided the land owners permission is granted.

UnquietDad nooooo. Next you'll be telling me Chris (of Chris & Piu) on Cbeebies is gay! Am a bit worried that all of the 'nice' men on children's tv seem to be of that persuasion

Actually I've heard Camp Chris puts it on for the laydeeees and is a red-blooded hetero.

we stayed at the campground next to the ferry terminal and it was lovely. I agree about the weather - although we went a few summers ago, I remember how it cooled off in the evening. We had a bonfire on the beach which was lovely.

We also took a day trip across to Iona which was really interesting.
