Chemical toilets.

Hopefully going camping for the first time as a family this year if I can persuade dh!

I have just seen a chemical toilet for under £15 and was wondering if it was worth having to be used for emergencies in the night. Dh likes a drink in the evening on holiday and I think what puts him off camping is the thought of having to trek to the toilet block in the middle of the night. Would you use one or is the idea just too gross?

We used to have a portable one as it was a requirement for a campsite where the loos were miles away. They are grim!

But they are also really useful sometimes. Just depends what you prefer, walking in the night to loo or emptying a potty full of shit mixed with lung-scalding loo-blue in a crappy pipe stuck with bits of loo roll blowing in the wind.

Oh I was going to make it a strict rule that it can be only used for number ones only!

Stupid question but where do you empty it?

Well, on this campsite there was pipe with a lid surrounded by a fence, affectionately known as the shit shute.

I don't know about other places, in the toilet block?

I bet you anything your rule will get broken.
