Anyone been camping in Croyde?

Hi all. Currently planning a "mums and kids" camping trip for the end of the summer hols and thinking of Croyde for the beach and the surf dudes (eye candy only!). Will it be hopelessly crowded and noisy? Does anyone have any good sites to recommend? Thanks.

I don't do camping but I stayed on the site below in a caravan last year and it was great! The beach is huge, I can't imagine it ever being crowded. We picked the only gorgeous weekend we had in September and DH was amazed at how quiet the place was despite it being very busy. The site has everything you need - indoor pool, surf hire, evening entertainment, take-away, pub, shop

Thanks - sounds good! My "Cool Camping" book gives dire warnings of crowds and late night partying, that was my only concern about that site, at least during the school hols.

It does get crowded! Very. But it's still very nice. We camped there for a weekend last summer and had a great time though.

Just beware of the traffic queues. Nightmare

Ruda is great,we camped there pre ds for a week and it has fab facilities, lovely flat and marked out pitches and the beach on your doorstep. we'd def go back there again, especially as were now planning to start camping again.

I stayed in a B&B there a couple of years ago for a weekend in mid-August and was really unhappy at how busy the beach was. My DH was on a learn to surf weekend, and the sea was really too crowded for this training as well. Lovely place, but I wouldn't go back in high season I'm afraid.
