Hi, We are thinking of taking our 2 DS, 2 and 3, on a camping holiday in France this summer. It would need to be somewhere warm, obviously, and a nice big site with it's own tents and facilities, as I dont want to slum it, sicne it will be my first camping trip in decades.. I think someplace near the sea would be best so they can play in the sand. I just dont know which part of France to go to, can you recommend any particular part? We live in Luxembourg, so it doesnt need to be near any ferry ports or anything. Also, which camping companies are good for small children?

Brittany - Eurocamp or Keycamp.

Hi Luxmum, I'd like to go to France too but find it utterly bewildering and don't know where to start with areas.

I think the further south you go, the warmer it is, and the bit around La Rochelle is supposed to be popular. Also up through the Loire for lots of chateaux I think, but no coast of course.

My concern with Brittany is the weather, although I know people who have had great holidays there. A bit like Wales or Cornwall perhaps? Does it have such gorgeous villages as Cornwall? I don't know what you do when you're there...

We've done caravans in Italy a few times. Eurocamp and keycamp are great but also, if you find a site you like, try booking direct perhaps? Tons cheaper, although then there's less chance there'll be English speaking kids next door. That could be a good or a bad thing.

Bumping for anyone who doesn't mind speaking slowly and in words of one syllable about where one goes in France

Friends of miune went to teh SW france area and loved it, I would look at some of those sites, they do look fab and would be doable from Luxembourg.

PS diclaimer I have never been!! I went to the dordogne, Loire, Vendee, Averyon, but not there (ALL FAB THOUGH)

Been camping three times in France - in the South!! have been to campsites where everythin is set up for you - Club Cantabrica were really good!! The last one I went to was massive and right on the beach. Port Grimaud I think it was called and very close to St Tropez!!
