Can't face a re-run of last years fortnight in a rainy Cornish field.

So this year we are thinking of going to a site with some facilities, maybe a swimming pool and some entertainment/ a cafe.

The kids are more into climbing walls/kayaking/cycling but will join in karaoke etc when required!

But I don't like Haven because of the way they cram the tents together. Last night I read UK Campsites until my eyes bled, there has to be an easier way! Please tell me where we should be holidaying.

We also had (in our case) 10 days in a rainy Cornish field. I actually look back now and think how restful it was! I slept about 9 hours every single night, and loved the area - Lands End peninsula. But - ds2 was bored and played up - the site was beautiful but a bit too quiet for him.Also, the weather got me down a bit, we have had better weather in Cornwall in April. So next year we're going to the Dordogne - but part of me would like to go back to Cornwall but to a livelier site...Going to Soleil plage whcih is reviewed on UK campsite but haven't yet sorted out overnight stops and ferry. Do you want to go to the UK or abroad?

Well, we have never camped outside of the UK before but I am beginning to think that France is the way forwards!

I have found a gorgeous site on the Eurocamp Independent website that ticks all the boxes; kids activities, cycling, close to beach and wonderful pools, even close to a nature reserve for DH. It is called Camping L'Atlantique in Beg Meil but I had such a shock at the combined cost of ferry and campsite. Eeekk!!!!

We were down by Lands End as well, in St. Buryan I spent a whole afternoon in the laundrette in Penzance trying to dry the washing. Hope you have a lovely time Littleshebear!!

We have been here www.sandy-balls.co.uk twice it is very quiet and has a peaceful atmosphere but does have some facilites like a swimming pool and bar/restaurant etc. Mind you we stayed in a log cabin so I can't really vouch for the camp site.

We once used a company called Vendee Loisirs Vacances. Static homes on very pleasant site right next to huge beach and LOADS for the kids to do. It was cheap at the time but don't know if it would be now what with the state of the £ against the Euro

Eurocamp Independent is very expensive - unless you really want the kids clubs it will be cheaper to book direct - we went to the Loire two years ago and booked direct and the site's kids club was run with the Eurocamp one - don't know how common that is though.I was going to book Eurocamp Independent this year but the cost put me off.

Lands End is lovely - we went to the Minack for the first time and all really enjoyed it.

We went to the Minack for the first time too, to the Alice in Wonderland play. Kids loved it and it did stop raining for the duration. If you spent any time at all at Porthcurno trying to 'surf' in the rain then you probably feature on our photos!!
