where to go next weekend?

depending on the weather(?)
don't know where to head though. needs to be within 2 hours drive. we like beaches, rivers or lakes. don't mind bsic but do need a toilet and preferabl;y a shower.
any ideas?

nearest big town is swindon. so 2 hrs from there would be good.

Britchcombe farm, Uffington, Oxfordshire is lovely. Very basic failities...portaloo's & a tap in a field. There is a shower at the farmhouse but we've never bothered to use them. The beauty of this place is it's on White horse hill, lovely walks. And the bit my dc like the best is you can have camp fire's. the farmer comes round in the evening selling bags of firewood and sometimes flapjack.m The other site we use a lot is Greenhill Farm at Bletchingdon, nr Oxford. Usual facilities, always very clean and the local indian takeaway will deliver to your pitch.

Just read your op....sorry no rivers at Uffington, there's a canal & fishing lakes at Greenhill, if that's of any use.
